Seborrhea, which is also known as Seborrheic dermatitis, is a condition of the skin that results to scaling and redness.  This becomes possible due to the malfunctioning of the oil glands where it is believed to be overproducing oil. Normally, it affects the upper body that includes the chest, face and scalp. Though there are several medications that can be given by the doctors, there are still some natural remedies for seborrheic dermatitis.

  1. The most important thing that a patient should do is to improve personal hygiene. The frequent use of soap can help in the removal of excess oils from infected areas.
  2. A mixture of cedar wood oil and vegetable oil can also be applied to the infected areas of seborrheic dermatitis.
  3. Some ingredients found in your kitchen can also do wonders. One good example is thyme that has antiseptic properties. This can be used in making a shampoo by combining it with water. Bring this to a boil and once cold, massage it gently to the infected area.
  4. Another ingredient that can be used for seborrheic dermatitis is olive oil. Normally, this is being warmed and then applied to the scalp.
  5. Aloe vera gel is also proven to decrease itching and scaling on infected areas.
  6. The condition of Seborrheic dermatitis can be improved by simply shampooing daily. The use of shampoo helps in reducing excess oil on the scalp. This can be done by gently rubbing the scalp to loosen flakes and scales. Just make sure to avoid irritating the scalp with too much scrubbing.

The condition of Seborrheic dermatitis can become really embarrassing and uncomfortable. Once the signs and symptoms are observed, the natural remedies can already be tested. If the condition does not improve, do not hesitate to visit your dermatologist.
